The fact that one of the most brutal authoritarian regime in Syria has recognized the “independence” of Abkhazia and “South Ossetia”, once more clearly depicts the backbone of the recognition of two historic regions of Georgia. If the official Kremlin believes that, the recognition of the “independence” of Abkhazia and “South Ossetia” by the bloody regime of Bashar Assad, is his victory, we should remind Georgian northern neighbor, that the regime which was  supported by Moscow resulted to casualties of about 400 thousand people and about 11 million people was forced to gain the status of  refugees.

The conflict began in 2011 when the government of the country used force against peaceful protesters, including children and women, which later escalated to the use of chemical weapons.
However another county that recognized “independence" of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region is Venezuela. It is the only state in South America which is included in the number of non-free countries according to "Freedom House". As a result of the falsification of the presidential election, country is under threat to be excluded from the Organization of American States (members of the organization are more than 30 North and South, as well as the Central American and Caribbean States)

Russia's second ally in the "recognition" of Georgian historical territories is Nicaragua, which was ruled by a Marxist Orientation (Sandinist Movement) politician Daniel Ortega during the recognition of "independence" of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region (in 2008).

Another state is Nauru, whose area is just 21 square kilometers and the population does not exceed 12 thousand people.

Naturally, the de facto and de-jure situation does not change with the recognition of the “independence” of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by the Syrian side. Moreover, the main problem is that temporarily Georgia does not control its historical regions. Also, when in two historic regions of Georgia, political, military, social or economic situation is fully controlled by Russia we cannot talk about any de facto independence of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region.
With this move, Russia’s prestige once again is under danger in the perception of the international community. In addition, it is noteworthy that the Syrian actions cannot be influencedon other Arab states.  Accordingly, the recognition of "independence" of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by any Arab state in the League of Arab States (total 22 members) is not expected.

A failed military coup in Russia. What happened?   By: Nika Chitadze Director of the Center for International Studies Professor of the International Black Sea University President of the George C. Marshall Alumni Union, Georgia - International and Security Research Center    For several hours on June 24 of this year, Russia was on the verge of a civil war. The rebellious "Wagnerians" were already 200 kilometers from Moscow. In the center of Rostov, the head of "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin himself was fortified, and the Chechen leader Kadyrov sent his armed formations to destroy him, he had positions in the outskirts of the city and was preparing for an attack. However, in the end, the "march of justice" announced by Prigozhin ended "peacefully". Russia avoided a civil war. At least at this point. Government representatives and the so-called parties reached an agreement during the negotiations between the private military company "Wagne

Ukraine's expected counterattack and possible de-occupation of the country

Ukraine's expected counterattack and Possible De-Occupation of the Country Nika Chitadze Professor of the International Black Sea University Director of the Center for International Studies President of the George C. Marshall Alumni Union, Georgia - International and Security Research Center  As expected, Ukraine's counteroffensive against the Russian occupation forces has already begun, although it has not yet entered the decisive phase. It should be noted that the past 5 months were particularly difficult for Ukrainian soldiers - the period when Ukraine began to save forces to prepare for a large-scale counteroffensive. In recent months, Ukraine has withdrawn most of its combat-ready units from the front line, and thousands of Ukrainian soldiers have gone abroad for training. The newly formed and refreshed brigades were left intact by the military-political leadership of Ukraine and did not involve them in heavy winter battles.   All this happened against the backgrou

Marshall Alumni Union, Georgia – International and Security Research Center Tbilisi, Georgia Introduction Environment and its such resources, as water, air, always were the necessary conditions for the human`s life and activities. But, during the many centuries of the history of mankind, environment was not represented the problem neither for the humanity, nor for its further sustainable development. Environment and natural resources were offering the satisfaction the needs of those people, who lived in the concrete period of the world history without causing the damage to the next generations. At the second half of the XX Century, the topic related to the environmental protection was included to the agenda, including the political aspects, because of the fact, that as a result
